Hello! It’s been awhile since I’ve taken (or had) the time to sit down and write a proper blog post. School is over, Penland School of Crafts is closed, and Winter is here! During the next three months Core Fellows, Resident Artists, and minimal staff members occupy the studios and grounds, it’s quiet and we all catch up on projects, ideas, and blog posts!
I recently came across photos from my shoemaking class that I took with Malika Green. In two weeks I made two pairs of sandals, and almost lost my mind doing so. The workshop took place during the later half of the Summer and by then I had already taken 3 two-week workshops in other media while working for the school and keeping up with the social aspect of Penland, I was exhausted. BUT I looked forward to this class for months and was determined to push myself regardless of my energy level.
One of my classmates had her camera in hand every step of the way and shared her images with everyone, such a gift. The following images are some of my favorites that she took including a couple class photos on our last day of the workshop.
Thanks for reading. xo
